DirectControl is First Identity and Access Management Solution Certified for Windows Server 2008
Centrify DirectControl extends the authentication and access control of Active Directory to UNIX, Linux and Mac systems
Mountain View, CA — Centrify Corporation, a leading provider of Microsoft Active Directory-centric identity management solutions for Linux, UNIX and Mac, today announced that its DirectControl software solution is the first identity and access management product to earn Windows Server 2008 software certification. DirectControl effectively turns a non-Microsoft system into an Active Directory client, enabling organizations to secure that system using the same authentication, authorization and Group Policy services currently deployed for Windows systems. As part of its support for Windows 2008, Centrify DirectControl extends the new Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) capabilities of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 to UNIX, Linux and Mac systems, increasing the overall security of those systems.
"We are pleased that Centrify has certified DirectControl for Windows Server 2008 to enable even deeper integration and interoperability between the Windows platform and non-Microsoft systems and applications," said Tony de Freitas, director of Windows Server marketing at Microsoft. "By extending Active Directory's support for Kerberos, LDAP, AES and Group Policy to other platforms, Centrify is helping to increase the security and manageability of a mixed environment."
"The increased security capabilities of Windows Server 2008 and Active Directory can significantly benefit organizations with other systems," said David McNeely, director of product management, Centrify. "With this certification, Centrify is demonstrating its commitment to ensuring that we deliver customers best-in-class authentication, access control and auditing for a heterogeneous environment by allowing customers to leverage a de facto standard technology they already have deployed — Microsoft Active Directory."
With Centrify DirectControl, organizations with diverse IT environments can leverage their investment in Active Directory to move to a central directory with a single point of administration for user accounts and security policy. They can use DirectControl's patent-pending Zoning technology to provide secure, granular access control and delegated administration. Additional seamlessly integrated modules snap into the DirectControl Agent to provide services such as web (e.g. BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Apache, etc.) and database (e.g. IBM DB2, IBM Informix, etc.) single sign-on and SAP R/3 integration. As a result, organizations increase their efficiency, improve their security and simplify compliance with regulatory requirements.
Windows Server 2008 software certification consists of approximately 100 test cases that independently confirm an application's compliance with best practices for compatibility, security, reliability and availability on the new platform, while ensuring the software performs in a 64-bit environment. The certification identifies top-performing technologies that are ready to deploy in mission-critical environments. As a participant in the Microsoft Early Access Program (EAP) for Windows Server 2008 Software Certification, Centrify DirectControl is one of more than 300 applications that are eligible for certification on a pre-release version of the new platform.
