Well, here's showing my age a little bit. I remember in the early 90's when the Internet was first bursting onto the scene and venture capitalists were funding dozens of identical dot-coms and companies that provided software as a service (SAAS) offerings. Nearly 20 years (and one BIG bust) later - SAAS is finally coming into it's own space as the Internet grows robust enough to support the kind of web-based applications that can truly benefit companies of all sizes.

According to Gartner, 25% of all software will be deployed with the SaaS model by 2011. In fact, Deutsche Bank predicts 50% by 2013 (Read the article). And there's little question why. SAAS lowers cost of entry, puts more onus on the vendor, provides you with less risk, and can offer improved security than in-house applications. The results are obvious.

At Bi101, it continues to be our goal to help find, research, and provide you with the best software solutions for your long-term IT initiatives. And as we move forward with our own leap into SAAS applications with the introduction of GoogleApps and Intacct for Small Business - two solutions we're implementing internally ourselves - we invite you to give them a try and let us know your thoughts.
